CLIENT: Mirror Lake Inn

OBJECTIVE: Re-Engineer existing site to provide a more stable WiFi experience.

THE CHALLENGE: Mirror Lake Inn Resort is comprised of several buildings spread across several acres at  varying elevations. The interior construction is sealed drywall ceilings and walls without chase-ways. “The challenge at Mirror Lake was maximizing coverage with very few areas to place access points,” said Jay Myrto, NOWIRZ head of Field Operations. “We had to be very creative in radio placement in the most efficient and effective areas to gain maximum coverage.”

SOLUTION: Using a combination of wireless links, hard-wired backbone, external and internal antenna placement, NOWIRZ found the most effective places to mount antennas while not taking away from the local environment. “We used everything from a bird house to a fake rock,” said Jay Myrto. The first phase utilized existing assets. Soon after deploying new access points, we realized guests would be better served by replacing access points. “I am amazed at how much better the coverage is with NOWIRZ’s hardware and engineering,” exclaimed Keith Hall, IT Director for the Mirror Lake Inn. Over the course of several months the existing assets were removed and replaced with NOWIRZ hardware.

OUTCOME: Today, the Mirror Lake Inn continues to pride itself on meeting guests’ needs. The relationship with NOWIRZ and the service they provide has far exceeded their expectations. Since installing the NOWIRZ service in August 2005, the Mirror Lake Inn and their guests have experienced hassle-free, uninterrupted WiFi service.

CLIENT: Highridge Homeowners Association

OBJECTIVE: 100% WiFi coverage for a 10 Building Multi-Unit Campus.

THE CHALLENGE: The primary challenge to this campus implementation was one of building penetration. Each building has a unique layout and absolutely no interior chase-ways or access.

SOLUTION: This campus relies on specialized antennas amplified to varying degrees and very careful antenna placement. “The hardest part about this implementation was testing, testing and further testing,” said Jay Myrto, Field Operations Manager for NOWIRZ. “Placing an antenna just ten feet in one direction or another and adjusting the amplification made the difference between an exceptional signal and an inadequate signal.” Mounting in crawl spaces, running exterior grade direct burial cable, installing electrical outlets: This project used every skill set NOWIRZ engineers had to be successful.

CLIENT: Pizzagalli Construction

OBJECTIVE: 100% WiFi coverage for their Multi-Building Campus for both employees and guests. The employees and owners at Pizzagalli expect technology to make their workday more efficient. THE CHALLENGE: The challenge for Pizzagalli is one of management and security. Visitor and guest access has to be secure from the employee/administrative network.

SOLUTION: NOWIRZ is a reseller of HP ProCurve Mobility products. Using HP products allows NOWIRZ to implement public access and enterprise networks with ease. 

HP's MultiService Mobility controller’s (MSMs) easy-to-use web-based GUI allows administrators to centrally define multiple user profiles that outline traffic prioritization, bandwidth utilization, guest access, and security policies. These policies are flexible and can be deployed per individual, group, or application. For example, employee business applications, guest Internet access service and high priority voice applications can each be allocated separate and distinct QoS and security policies. 

HP wireless MultiService Mobility Access Points (MSM APs) deliver scalable, seamless wireless access anywhere, anytime. Unlike thin/lite wireless access points, the HP MSM feature set is abundantly rich, dispensing multiple network services, enforcing robust security policies and delivering high performance client access. An integral component of the HP Intelligent Mobility Solution, MSM APs are centrally controlled by MSM controllers for ease of deployment and centralized management.

OUTCOME: NOWIRZ installed secure public and private access without the need for a second network—and the entire network is centrally monitored and managed from one convenient interface.

CLIENT: Green Mountain Valley School

OBJECTIVE: Re-Engineer existing site to give client’s a more stable WiFi experience while also have the ability to better manage the network

THE CHALLENGE: The campus consists of over 10 separate buildings. The existing wireless infrastructure was using “off the shelf” products with no manageability and no security.

SOLUTION: Using HP ProCurve Mobility products, NOWIRZ implemented a fully centrally managed network capable of separating staff and students onto separate networks. Internet access was tied into Active Directory such that only those users who have a proper domain account can access the Internet.

OUTCOME: Green Mountain Valley School manages over 100 students per day accessing the wireless infrastructure. This secure network has minimized the amount of time necessary to manage the infrastructure and troubleshoot any connectivity concerns saving the school valuable money.
